Portable Cabin

I stumbled upon this Abōd™ prototype prefab home created by BSB Design for use as affordable housing in South Africa; however, this concept has far-reaching appeal for many diverse applications to include use as a temporary shelter on your homestead.

These tiny homes are minimal, practical, absolutely adorable, and yet extremely functional. The Abōd™ would make for a decent temporary shelter for those on a budget.

The simple ergonomic design uses a strong, natural shape as the core. The D.I.Y handyman or woman could easily construct this home’s exterior in a few days and complete the interior in a few more ( 2-4 persons recommended for ease of construction ). It’s durable, lightweight and id assembled offsite could be easily shipped in a compact box for quick on-site assembly.

The Abōd is designed to stand alone as seen in the picture above, but modification is endless with add-on options like extensions for kitchens, bathrooms, cooking areas, loft expansions, unique door designs, overhangs, flooring choices and closet units. Double units can be connected in a variety of configurations and the supporting arch size can be increased. Plexiglas panels can be integrated anywhere in the design to increase natural diffused light inside.
